Sequoyah Schools Students Earn National Math Award

TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – Nearly 150 of Sequoyah Schools’ students have high school mathematics. To be eligible for nomination for the official United States Achievement Academy Scholarship Foundation National Mathematics Awards, students must have a 3.0 grade point average in their math class, show mathematics skills and aptitude, demonstrate an attitude of cooperation, leadership, dependability, enthusiasm, responsibility and have a desire to learn and improve.

“This year’s 147 nominated students are the most that have met the nomination requirements in my 16 years at Sequoyah, ”

said Joe Morris, Sequoyah Schools mathematics department chair.

“We are proud of their progress.”

The students were nominated by the math teachers at Sequoyah Schools. All nominated students will receive membership in the United States Achievement Academy, national recognition in the USAA National Awards Yearbook and a chance to win one of 400 scholarships that are awarded each year by the USAA.
